Soul Laid Bare
Miracles happen. I am living in the midst of one. I've always wanted to tell you all the whole story and now I can. Looking back it is hard to fathom that Abbey and I made it across the planet and through the most devasting circumstances to the incredible joy that overflows our lives everyday. All that I couldn't share as I lived through it you will find here. Scroll down to Miracles In Our Midst for the podcast. It's probably about 40 minutes long, and there was still so much that I didn't have time to explain...someday.

*When it sounds like the message is over there is really a little bit more, so wait a minute and you'll hear a few more important pieces at the end.

Oh Goodness
She climbed out of her crib tonight. I was trying to employ some tough love and walk out of the room because she was crying and protesting bedtime. She did it VERY quickly too. I was so wanting her to stay in that crib until she turned 3. Does anyone know how I can stop her from growing up?

Words of the Week
Well, once again Ms Abbey is ready for more than I thought she was. Bible lessons here we go! I do my Bible study when Abbey is asleep. I am sure the reasons for that are self evident. I quit taking my Bible to church because of my tendonitis and the diaper bag, etc. I just use one of the extra's they keep there. The other day when Abbey woke up from her nap I still had my Bible out on the sofa. She came over and touched it and I said, "Mama's Bible." She ran and found this little Bible with the handle and brought it to me and said, "Bible." Now I don't remember ever telling her about Bibles before and I haven't ever read this book to her, but we have flipped through the pages once or twice. She has more board books than I have ever known of one child to have and I just have no idea how she knew this one was a Bible. At church she just plays in the nursery. I asked her daycare if they had talked about Bibles and they hadn't. Where does she get these things? I guess once again she is ready for more than I realize, so Bibles it will be.
Thanks to the birthday parties of some sweet friends she is starting to sing Happy Birthday and really get into the whole party idea.
Today she announced, "I poo-poo", and it was true, she did. I had just told the doctor I didn't want to start potty training because she didn't have enough language.
Her favorite new word is "why?" which she uses over and over throughout the day anytime I say no to something or redirect her. It is said very impassionately and usually three times in a row with dramatic inflections. She doesn't care for the reasons I give her so she just asks why again and again.
My favorite thing to hear from her is "My I know my" for the "Now I know my" part of the ABC song (that is the only part she can really sing). It is so cute. She is really into A for Abbey and always says that any marks she makes on paper are A's with lots of concentration.

Tiny Tot
I get so many comments about how big Abbey is getting, but then when people meet her in person they are shocked at how tiny she is. Also when people haven't seen her for awhile they are surprised when they see her again and remember she's little. I've decided the blog needs the disclaimer, "appears larger than acutal size". I don't have current stats but we have a Dr's visit tomorrow so I can find out exactly where we are at with height and weight. My scale at home has needed a new battery since about the time I went to China, so it's no help. Her clothes range anywhere from 12 mo to 2T. She has grown a lot, but she's still my baby.
