Oh Goodness

She climbed out of her crib tonight. I was trying to employ some tough love and walk out of the room because she was crying and protesting bedtime. She did it VERY quickly too. I was so wanting her to stay in that crib until she turned 3. Does anyone know how I can stop her from growing up?

I have yet to find a way to keep them from growing at all. I tried not feeding mine for a bit, but that did not seem to work! Uhm, my best advice? Don't blink! She will be in kindergarten before you know it! And it just gets faster from there...

I keep threatening to put a book on Glenys head to stop growing up but she tells me she wants to have "big hands like y'all." It is so strange to see this Chinese kid with my south'rn drawl.

Wish I could help. Courtney is almost 5 inches taller than me and Greg strated football last week. Just don't forget to breathe while your amazement grows and most of all... ENJOY EVERY MINUTE!
    Miss you,

by the way, once they start escaping it's over! try a small toddler bed that uses the same mattress (they are inexpensive and the kids love them since they are used to the size) or even a twin mattress on the floor. Then the trick is just keeping them in their room. ;-)

That little rascal but I’m not surprised. The extra therapy must be really making a difference. Her crib is so beautiful. It’s a shame she won’t stay in it. Does it turn into a toddler bed? BTW I know someone in the market for a crib these days :)

    Hi,

I enjoy your blog so much... it is so outstanding how you raise your child... I mean with so many good values...

And yeah... our kids just grow to fast... mine too... lol...

And there is no way to keep them in bed... but I enjoy it also when they sleep between my husband and me... this time will be soon over too... ;-(

    Many Greetings from Germany

Both of my girls were out of cribs by three. My jillian was out at two, she was a climber and I was so afraid of her safety.
Enjoy every second, they grow too fast.

    Hi!
I just read your entire blog from start to finish-- or well current... This is such an inspiration! I have always wanted to adopt internationally and reading your journey has just been great. I still have another 10 years ahead of me until I can do so (I'm 20 right now) but this was just such a great read! I've been around children for the last 9 years babysitting, being a nanny, doing a pre-school summer camp etc. I can't wait to fill my house with little ones!
    God Bless you and Abbey!

First they're climbing out of the crib, and then they want the keys to the car (well, Ariel is a few years away from that but it seems like yesterday she was in a crib). Enjoy the rambunctiousness while it's still cute!

Sorry, but no. Believe me, I've tried!

Katie hasn't tried escaping her crib yet, but she will... in the meantime, J is driving himself around town!

We're hoping to plan a So. CA trip to see you two. Can you believe the girls have been with us for 9 months already?

It's true, the Crib Tent might help... it is supposed to be good to 3 yrs old.

Been following your blog for a while now. You have the cutest little girl. I especially loved your posts from China.

I used the "tent" for my two boys and loved it. They climbed right out of their crib at such an early age. I felt it was dangerous to potentially have them roaming about while I was sleeping.

They do grow so quickly. Take advantage of every moment you can while they are young. However, there are so many wonderful experiences you will have with your child has she grows. So many "firsts" still to come.

Miya started climbing out too. Nothing worse then hearing that "thud" I moved her to the toddler bed and it has gone SOOO much better then expected. She will get out every now and then but I tell her "go back to bed" and surprisingly, she does.

Get the crib tent - or get a big girl bed...we used the crib tent - until she was about 2 1/4 yrs old - then I took the side off of the crib - and never have a further problem...
    Good Luck

I'm going to try the crib tent (it should be delivered soon). Aslan is only 19 months, but right at 34 inches. I'm not ready to give up the crib though! Its just too soon! Lol. She's just so darn tall, she's already able to get her leg slung up on the crib rail (with the crib mattress at its lowest and the rail at its highest!). I love reading your blog and am so glad you've kept it up since yout got home.
