Mother's Day Gift

This is what Abbey made for me at daycare. It's so cute because she was so excited for me to open it and she had to keep re-enacting for me how she put her foot and handprints on. I got to wear it to work today. Our wonderful caregiver never ceases to amaze me. She returned from a trip to Hawaii today with adorable t-shirts for the kids. I have to say the children that Abbey is with there are so wonderful. There are just three others and they are all great little friends for Abbey.

Happy Mother's Day

So many people have been wishing me a Happy First Mother's Day and I have to say, every day is mother's day for me now. Everyday I feel so grateful to have been given such an incredible gift. There was always a hole in my heart and pervading sadness over my life before. Holidays brought it up all the more because I wouldn't be busy working and would have more time to think about the huge lack I felt without a child. That hole has not only been filled in, but there is a garden growing there and my heart is in full bloom. You would think after 25 years of waiting that my expectations would have been too high, but they were no where near high enough. I never could have imagined the depths of the love and joy I feel being with my daughter. Those of you still waiting, you are already mommies...you are pregnant with a promise. Although it is so hard to wait, just know that you will have day after unfolding days stretching in front of you to enjoy your child.

Oh my gosh, Abbey was flirting tonight. There was a sweet 3 year old boy at the restaurant we went to and A kept smiling and waving and finally offering him her food. It worked. Mom's have exchanged numbers and a playdate will be arranged. She's been invited to go swimming at his house. She cracks me up.

Build-A-Bear workshop is hosting Stuffed With Hugs: Hugs Sweet Hugs to make bears for children in need of a family and to celebrate adoption. You can help! Bring your family to your local Build-A-Bear Workshop and make a bear for FREE. The bears made will be donated to children around the country and around the world!

*I believe this is for the first 200 people at each store.

A dear friend and her daughter went to Build-A-Bear on Abbey's birthday and made a bear for her so that it would share her birthdate. They named it Zhuozhuo. It has white fur with pink and sparkles in it, a purple evening gown, and gold high heels. It is so sweet and Abbey loves it! It's great to think of children around the world each receiving their own special friend.
