Talking with Duck
Sorry, I have no time or energy to blog...too busy having fun with my girl! Just wanted to share this. We get notes each day from Abbey's daycare about what she ate, played with, etc. She is going over her notes with Duck. She still loves Doggie best of all, but she is branching out and giving other animals the honor of going with her on her outtings and sleeping in her crib.

Happy Birthday Abbey!
Abbey is turning 2 today! I am so excited for her birthday party tomorrow. It is amazing to think that on April 21, 2005, she was found at the fruit market in her little town. I am so grateful for the people who found her and took care of her. I am so thrilled that God has allowed me to be her mom. I showed her a little Elmo video about birthdays and practiced the Happy Birthday song and blowing out a candle. Her face lit up and she loved it, but I don't think she really knows what is going on. I do know she is going to flip over the trike I got her. She keeps pointing out a picture of one in a book and one on a neighbor's fron porch and saying "YES!" when I ask her if she wants one. Yea!

Let The Good Times Roll
The little purple card with the egg and chick was from Abbey to me, she made it at daycare. The little purple bunny is from Tina, her wonderful caregiver. Yesterday she told me that they did a little egg hunt in her backyard. They let Abbey go first because she is the youngest, but Tina said that we don't need to do that anymore, she definitely knows what to do with the eggs and the basket. The frosted bunny cookie is from Gary, Abbey's Speech therapist. After the egg hunt we had a speech session and Abbey said "all done" for the first time. She's always signed it before. I am always amazed at what he gets her to do.
'Twas the Night Before Easter...
A millisecond before the tears erupted...
She kept responding "yes" that she wanted to go see the big bunny until I sat her on his lap. We only managed this because I hopped in with her. She's not smiling so I almost didn't get a copy of the photo, but then I just felt like I wanted it anyway. Now Abbey keeps wanting to look at it and see the bunny.
I had all my hair cut off yesterday. I've never had it short before but it was really time for a mommy-do that involves no effort. It feels so good. Goodbye long hair...hello toddler mommy!
We've had such a wonderful day together. It's Spring Break for me and I am so excited. This is my first Easter with my daughter and I just want to cry because I am so happy. All my dreams have come true. I know I keep saying that, but it's really how I feel everyday. Hang in there waiting moms, your day is coming!

Baby Maeve is with her mama!
My friend Laura met her baby yesterday in China! Check out Maeve here. We met at and introductory meeting with Great Wall China Adoptions. We had both driven a long way just to find out more about the agency because they wouldn't accept applications until the next fall for their coveted singles spots (300 women wrote essays and about 100 were choosen). We both stayed after to speak to the singles director and found that 2 ladies who were selected the previous fall had lost their spots and that if we both faxed in our paperwork immediately we could be considered. We stayed after for hours speaking with her....and here we are now 2 years later, with our babies!! I am so happy for Mama Laura and Baby Maeve!
