Daycare

Abbey went to daycare today by herself for the first time. We visited together one morning last week. We wanted to try everything so that when she really has to go we are all ready. I feel SO blessed and fortunate to have her in this wonderful place. She loved it, did not miss me, and came home happy as a clam. Evidently she knows how to steer a stroller and drive a car, news to me. When I went to explain to her that I was going "bye-bye" she clung on to the play kitchen and began shaking her head NO thinking she was going to have to leave with me. When she found that she was staying and I was going she was fine with that. When I came to get her she was beaming and wearing a train conductor uniform and had a walkie talkie. I am soooooooooo happy that she is happy. Of course I was trying not to cry during the morning as I went to the grocery store, ironed, etc. It will be easier when I am back at school because my first graders take all my attention every moment, but I know she will be on my mind still every minute we are apart. She is so smart, cute, happy, funny, and wonderful to be with. I love her so much!
Oh, and she learned the sign for apple at snack time.

Oh I'm so proud of her what a great accomplishment! Kacey starts school full time on January 2nd so I'm nervous and little sad too.

That's wonderful! It will make the coming transition to going back to work a little easier knowing she's happy when she's there.

    Great pics, Christi!

Good for Abbey! The transition looks like it may be harder for you than her. Somehow I know I'll be the same way ;0) I wish you both the best!

I can totally relate...even though I loved Emma's child care center, and she did too, I bawled practically all day the first day back at work. She was fine though!

    Christi,

What fabulous news, and I'm sure a load off your mind. ZZ looks wonderful, she's blossomed so much!

By the way, how is the name thing going? Have you started adding Abbey to her name, or are you going to stick with ZZ? I've been wondering.

Only a few more days until Christmas, are you ready?

Boy-is this wonderful news. It is just a testament as to how much more adaptable children can be than adults. I am so glad, grateful & awed that she took to the childcare like a duck to water & practically pushed you out the door--go, go, I want to play with all these new things! This is a lot better than having her cry her eyes out! I know that leaving her was tough for you but you'll get used to it!

I know it gives you great peace of mind to know that she is happy to be there. Compared to her referral picture--she looks so full of life now. I believe this is because she has found her family.

I'm so happy Abbey is adjusting so wonderfully. I know you had so many concerns in the beginning but it is obvious that God knew your heart and placed the two of you together for a reason! She is totally blossoming in your care. (no pun intended on the name of your blog) :-)

What a little sweetheart, Christi. So great to see her thrive.

And what a wonderful transformation that daycare triggers. The little ones just love the stimulation and being around other kids (and they sleep better too - Yay! :).
