Traditional Foot Massage

From New Album 11/...

From New Album 11/...

After dinner I went to the medical center for a foot massage. As you walk in you can see the girls measuring out bones, herbs, leaves, etc. for the traditional medicine. I was taken to a room and a big wooden tub of steaming water was brought in. They poured a bottle of brown liquid herbs into the bath. They begin with your upper back then do your neck, arms and the rest of your back. Next come the legs and feet. It is heavenly! It is more like a combination of accupressure and massage. This girl did not miss a muscle or bone, she worked on everything and was using techniques I've never seen before. They also bring you plates of fruit and tea. They have a little menu of other things to promote your health...pig brains, baby pidgeon, turtle, or frog stews and you can also get duck stew with donkey hide. Then came the hot towel treatments. She worked on me for 70 minutes and the cost was $6. I will be going again tomorrow!

OK, I just have to ask...how do you get a full-body massage by going in and asking for a foot massage? It sounds like I will be hitting the massage place myself when we arrive.
    Aloha,

Wow Christy- that's sounds amazing. We will definately be looking that place up when we get there. I am so loving your blog. Mom and I read about your first day and we started jumping up and down how much fun we too were going to have in China. Thanks for the great information.
