SWI

Only 23 days until I find out what SWI (Social Welfare Institute) that Abbey is in!
When I began this journey I was so hoping that she was in foster care. The babies have a harder time with grieving initially after really bonding, but you are assured that they can form a bond. Then I found that some foster care parents have 2-3 babies in the home with them and I've seen some footage of foster care homes that really concerned me - extreme poverty, people smoking non-stop, and unsafe/unsanitary conditions. After reading much more I realized that there are some foster care situations that may not be the best situation, and there are some orphanages that have recieved so much assistance from Half the Sky or Love Without Boundaries that they have great programs. But those are the exception not the rule, so I am just hoping she was in the best care either way. The number of wonderful foster care stories far outweigh the ones that are not so good. It will just be a comfort to know where she is, even though I realize that some people don't get the information about whether or not there has been foster care until later, and sometimes people don't ever find out. I've heard stories of babies who were in the orpanage but were taken home at night by one of the nannies. All along I've been praying for her to find favor in the site of her caretakers and that people are noticing her and paying attention to her.

This little dress and bloomers was the "bow" on my diaper cake which you may have seen back in the March work shower pictures. It's from Helen. I love the little birdies. Everyone gave me 12 month and older clothing, so I feel great about her getting a chance to wear them all.

That dress is the cutest, Christi!

Knowing how eager I am to see Abbey's face, I can only imagine how you must feel right now. How in the world are you getting any work done?

I love that you are considering all the details of Abbey's life before you come to know her. I will pray that she is prepared for the changes to come in her life. You will be such a good mom.
